Editorial Independence

Fullimedia is independently owned and operated. No story has been published in exchange for payment, promotional consideration, or the expectation of favorable treatment. No external party — advertiser, sponsor, investor, or government body — holds any influence over what the newsroom covers, how stories are framed, or which pieces are published or withheld.

Carlos Mendoza, Editor-in-Chief, is solely responsible for editorial decisions. Those decisions are not subject to review or approval by any business or commercial function of the publication. The firewall between editorial and commercial operations is absolute and unconditional.

Conflict-of-Interest Disclosure

Every editor and senior writer at Fullimedia publishes a conflict-of-interest statement as part of their public profile. These statements are updated when circumstances change and are not reduced to boilerplate.

Examples of the specificity we require: Sebastian Ross, Business Editor, holds passive index funds only and discloses this in his profile and on every Business desk article. He does not hold individual equities, and neither he nor anyone on his desk publishes anything that constitutes investment advice. Dr. Andrea Velez, Wellness Editor, accepts no funding from pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, or supplement brands, and carries no paid clinical or consulting relationships that could influence her coverage. These disclosures are real and are subject to annual review.

Reporters who develop a financial, personal, or professional relationship that could create a real or perceived conflict with a beat they cover are required to disclose this to their editor and may be reassigned from affected coverage. The standard is not whether a conflict exists but whether a reasonable reader would question the journalist’s independence.

Gifts, Junkets, and Review Units

Fullimedia journalists do not accept gifts of value from subjects of coverage or from sources seeking coverage. Entertainment Editor Laura Quinn does not accept studio-paid travel, accommodation, or event access. Review units — devices, products, or services provided for the purpose of a review — are disclosed in the relevant article. Where possible, review units are purchased independently or returned after evaluation.

Invitations to press events are evaluated individually. Journalists attend on the understanding that attendance creates no editorial obligation. Expenses for press travel are paid by Fullimedia, not by the event organizer or the subject of coverage.

Financial and Political Independence

Fullimedia does not accept direct funding from political parties, political action committees, government agencies, or entities whose primary function is political advocacy. We do not take editorial direction from funders of any kind. Any material financial relationship — such as a grant, partnership, or advertising contract — that could affect reader perception of our independence is disclosed in the relevant coverage area and on our Ownership and Funding page.

Journalists do not engage in partisan political activity in public forums, including on social media, that would compromise the perceived independence of their reporting.

Plagiarism and Attribution

Original reporting, writing, and intellectual work by others is attributed explicitly. Quotes from published sources are cited to the original publication and linked where available. Paraphrase without attribution and wholesale reproduction of another publication’s reporting without credit are violations of this policy and grounds for immediate correction and, where appropriate, disciplinary action.

If a story at Fullimedia substantially follows a tip, lead, or original reporting by another outlet, that outlet is credited. We do not present others’ original journalism as our own discovery.

Fairness and Right of Reply

Any individual, organization, or institution named critically in a Fullimedia story is given a genuine, documented opportunity to respond before publication. “Genuine” means sufficient time and a clear description of the specific claims at issue — not a same-hour pro-forma request designed to produce a non-response. Responses are reflected in the story honestly and in full context, not selectively quoted to minimize their effect.

Fairness does not mean false balance. Where evidence is clear and one-sided, we report it as such. We do not manufacture the appearance of controversy where none exists in the underlying facts.

Sourcing Integrity

Sources are not invented, composited, or misrepresented. Anonymous sources are described accurately in terms of their relationship to the information they provide. Promises of confidentiality made to sources are honored. Fullimedia does not pay sources for information.

The Advertising Firewall

Advertising exists at Fullimedia to fund journalism, not to influence it. Advertisers do not receive advance notice of coverage, the ability to review or suppress stories, or preferential treatment in editorial decisions. Paid advertising content, if published in any form, is labeled “Advertisement” and is visually distinct from editorial content. Sponsored content disguised as journalism is not published under any commercial arrangement. For advertising inquiries, contact advertise@fullimedia.com.co.
